Inscribed in pencil, Artist Proof, lower left. Framed. Isaac Jack Holtz was an American Israeli Jewish painter who painted genre works about Jewish life in Israel and the United States. Yitzhak Holtz was born in Poland in the town of Skarniewicz in 1925, in 1935 immigrated with his family to Eretz Israel and settled in Jerusalem. In 1945 he began studying at the New Bezalel. In 1950, he moved to New York City, USA, where he studied painting at Barrett Students League with Robert Berkman and at the National Academy of Design under Robert Philip. In 1960 he began to stay permanently in Israel. Holtzs work often depicts Jewish daily life in the Land of Israel and the United States in a realistic style.
