A rare cased pair of Scottish saddle flintlock type pistols by Bissell. The items are fully functional, the flintlock mechanism works smoothly and finely. Pistols are numbered 496 and 498. The lock has a stamp with the markers name. Both pistols are monogrammed RHR on top of the barrel. The sides of both pistols have a saddle clip in fine order. One of the pistols has a remaining piece of flint. The firing mechanism has a double click lock for safety. Pistols are in a red wood lacquered presentation case, which includes a brass plaque with the possible name of the previous owner, William Webb 1875. The top of the case has a brass engraved plaque with the inscription 1879 June 27th, 1904. Presented to Mr. and Mrs. John H. Levine by the officials of the Borough of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania.
