Serigraphy on bond art paper - La Madona - Number 42 of 70 - Birth of Nature by Sixto Cotto Morales. Born in Santurce, PR, 1955 - Died in Bayamón, PR, 2015. Painter, teacher, and graphic artist. Cotto studied under Antonio Martorell and José Alicea at Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico where he earned a BFA with a major in Graphic Arts in 1982. He was a founding member and director of the Colectivo de Artistas Puertorriqueños: Arte en la Calle (Puerto Rican Artists Collective: Art in the Streets) and, for more than a decade, designed and illustrated posters and prints for public and private organizations in Puerto Rico. The Art of Puerto Rican Poster was a traveling exhibition between 1985 and 1987 at several universities throughout the United States. His work is characterized by a lush chromaticism, the interaction of their textures, and the presence of elements and expressions of Puerto Rican culture through a style typical of his creative perspective.
