Alexander Osipovich Orlovsky, 1777 to 1832, an antique Russian oil on copper painting. This rare late 1800 painting is dedicated to Russian hero peasant from Opolcheniya and was involved in the partisan movement of the Polish invasion war in Russia 1609 to 1618 In 1612, during the Polish-Muscovite War, 1609 to 1618, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth forces, led by Jan Karol Chodkiewicz, clashed with the Russian Second Peoples Militia, led by Dmitry Pozharsky, in a series of battles around Moscow, ultimately resulting in a decisive Russian victory and the liberation of the city. Alexander Orlovsky was a Russian painter, draughtsman and printmaker of Polish birth. He trained at the Warsaw studio of Jan Piotr Norblin de la Gourdaine and received support from Princess Isabella Czartoryska. He also studied under the Polish court painter Marcello Bacciarelli, the engraver Bartolomeo Follin and the Polish miniaturist Wincenty Fryderyck Lesseur, 1745 to 1813. Until the turn of the century, Orlovskys career was marked by alternating periods of concentrated work and of travel abroad, often as a soldier or entertainer. Few works from this period survive. Orlovskys early paintings were timid and imitative; his drawings, however, are assured, elegant and amusing, suggesting the influence of Norblins combination of realism and imagination. From Norblin he also learnt a free treatment of the subject and a concern with artistic expression. One of a kind artwork. Antique Russian Paintings And Art Collectibles.
