An antique 18th-century Russian Orthodox icon of Mother of God, presumably the Areovindus iconography, the Fire-like. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. There is little information about the history of this iconography. The now lost origin was created in the late 9th century AD. The face of Virgin Mary is turned toward her right side, and her garments are bright red in color, thus the title Fire-appearing or Visible in Fire.
