Lot 0091: RENE SEYSSAUD FRENCH EXPRESSIONIST OIL PAINTING

41 reviews

Rene Seyssaud, French, 1867 to 1952, an oil painting on board depicting an autumn forest landscape in the Post Impressionist manner. Signed by the artist, lower left. Framed. Rene Seyssaud was a Provencal painter, precursor of Fauvism. Although a child of a Vauclusian family, he was born on June 15, 1867 in Marseilles where his father was a lawyer. At his fathers death, he joined his grandparents at Avignon, and they enrolled him in fine art classes in Avignon where he studied with Pierre Grivolas. Seyssaud is noted for his powerful temperament and bold palette with bright colors, which makes him present as a forerunner of Fauvism. His first major exhibition took place in 1892 at the Salon des Independants in Paris. Then he had first exhibitions at the Salon d Automne and the Salon des Tuileries. Modern European School Fine Art, Impressionist Landscape Paintings, Wall Art, and Collectibles. One of a kind artwork.
