A 1882 Pennsylvania Bicentennial bronze proof token. The obverse features a bust of William Penn. The reverse depicts an escutcheon with a horse on either side and an eagle above, surrounded by an inscription in Latin. The tokens were distributed by employees of US mint during the celebrations of Pennsylvanias bicentennial in October 1882. William Penn, 1644 to 1718, was an English writer, religious thinker, and influential Quaker who founded the Province of Pennsylvania during the British colonial era.
