A mid century Brutalist Icelandic Lava bowl by the Glit ceramic studio, 1970s. Marked on the bottom: LAVA GILT ICELAND. The Gilt is a well known Icelandic ceramics studio. The clay used in this product is made from pumice stone collected from Icelandic volcanoes. The texture, partially decorated with green blue glaze, is also created using real lava collected around the perimeter of an active volcano.
