An ancient Chinese jade amulet used for religious purposes. The pendant is carved in the form of a mythical elephantine zoomorph in almost circular form with two circular holes and deep groove up the backside of the head. Presumably, it was created during the Longshan culture period. The Longshan (or Lung shan), was a late Neolithic culture in the middle and lower Yellow River valley areas of northern China from about 3000 to 1900 BC. Since ancient times, jade has acquired a special place in the culture of China, being essentially its national stone. Jade Amulet, Longshan, Religious Items, Ancient Chinese Collectibles.
