Seller: 03707 (731)

An original Japanese Meiji era Ukiyo-e military woodblock triptych, The Great Victory of Japanese Imperial Army at Seonghwan, from the series The First Sino and Japanese War by an unknown Ukiyo-e artist. Published by Ishijima Yae circa 1894. Battle triptychs were produced in large numbers during the Sino-Japanese (1894 - 1895) and Russo-Japanese wars (1904 - 1905). Such prints idealized the heroism of Japanese troops risking their lives for the emperor. Japanese Ukiyo E Woodblock Prints, Asian Artworks For Wall Decor.
