Lot 0430: HIGH QUALITY ANTIQUE JAPAN MEIJI CLOISONNE VASE

An important Japanese cloisonne enamel vase with pictorial scenes, Meiji era, 1868 to 1912. The turquoise enamel ground is decorated with polychrome flowers and butterflies, decorated with two large hand painted medallions on both sides. One side depicts two birds perched on flowering wisteria branches with a pond and a swimming turtle at the bottom. On the other side there is an owl sitting on cherry blossom branches with a pond with floating fish at the bottom. The rims are most likely silver plated.
