An extremely fine and rare antique British Neoclassical porcelain pitcher by Mintons company. Having a cream colored ovoid body with blue band embossed with a pattern depicting Sphinxes and scrolled foliage motifs. The central medallion of a deep brown color features a beautiful and highly detailed pate sur pate relief of a young woman with flowing hair carrying two baskets with flowers. Has a figural applied gilt handle ending in a Satyr head, an elegant neck with a scalloped top rim and gilded fluting along the neck and feet. Raised on a square pedestal. Circa 1900. Stamped with two crowned globe marks to the bottom. Mintons was a major company in Staffordshire pottery, Europes leading ceramic factory during the Victorian era.
