A large antique Japanese cinquefoil shape porcelain bowl. Taisho period, 1912 to 1926. The bowl is decorated with hand painted decor. The inside depicts an image of a rooster and a hen on the pond in blossoming flowers and trees, and flying birds. The exterior of the ware is adorned with images of birds in blossoming flowers. The bowl features gilded accents. Unmarked. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
