A large Japanese Meiji period paper cutter. The long and curved brass blade is engraved on its entire surface with an image of a bird sitting on a blooming branch. The copper blade is beautifully decorated with repousse butterflies, bugs and other insects among leaves on both sides. Made in Japan for export to Europe, dating from the end of the 19th century.
