A Japanese Art Deco pottery vase. Early Showa period, 1930s. Elongated shape with pronounced base. Matte deep blue glaze. Hieroglyphical hallmark on the bottom indicates that the piece was produced by the Fukagawa Family. The Fukagawa-Seiji company was founded in 1894. It was awarded the Grand Prize at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris, and in 1910 was appointed official purveyor to the Japanese Imperial Household.
