A very fine antique Japanese, late Meiji era, enamel over bronze vase. The urn shaped vase is enameled with polychrome archaic floral and geometrical motifs made using the Champleve technique. Champleve is an enameling technique consisting of cutting away troughs or cells in a metal plate and filling the depressions with pulverized vitreous enamel. Marked, Made in Japan, on the bottom.
