An English majolica figurine of a polar bear by Bretby Art Pottery. Art Deco period, late 1920s to 1930s. Presumably from a collection inspired by the 100th anniversary of the London Zoo, 1928. Painted, unglazed. Embossed marks Bretby, 2452, Made in England are on the bottom. Bretby Art Pottery was a studio founded by Henry Tooth and William Ault in Derbyshire, England, active from 1883 to 1996. Collectible Studio Pottery, Porcelain And Ceramic Ware, Decor.
