An antique Malay silver platter of thin silver alloy, beaten and then chased with foliate scrollwork and star images to a central cartouche. The rim is wide, raised and decorated with flower patterns. This type of silver work comes from Riau, on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, and was exported to Malay and related Islamic communities in Singapore, Malaysia and in the rest of Indonesia.
