Lot 0343: CHINESE NEOLITHIC LONGSHUA HAND CARVED JADE CONG

An ancient Chinese Neolithic period Liangzhu cylinder shaped and hand carved ceremonial tube or cong made of brown, blue, black Nephrite Jade. The tube encased in a square prism that gently tapers from top to bottom. Simple masks with circular eyes and bar shaped mouths decorate the corners. The ware is adorned with engraved geometrical patterns. The cong probably signified wealth and social status.
