Lot 0231: ANTIQUE 19 C PORCELAIN MEDICI VASES HUNTING DOGS

41 reviews

A pair of antique white and gold footed porcelain Medici vases with figurative handles. These pieces seem to be manufactured in Berlin around the 1840s and for the British public. However, similar designs were all popular in other porcelain manufacturers across West Europe, like Paris or Saint Petersburg. The handpainted body of each vase depicts a hunting dog on the backdrop of a landscape in which we can see a fox hunting group in red jackets like a John Frederick Herring painting homage. The medical vases design is complemented by rich gilt ornamental detailings. The items are executed in Empire Neoclassic style. Collectible Antique Porcelain Decor Items.
