Antonia Sirena, American, 1929 to 2006, oil on canvas abstract painting. Signed lower right. Framed. With a metal label lower on the frame. With a postcard providing the additional information about the artist mounted to the back. Antonia Mastrocristino Sirena was an opera singer who made her singing debut in Naples in 1943. Years later, particularly because of an almost fatal illness, Sirena abandoned her singing career. In 1965 she started showing her paintings in many renowned galleries, from the USA to Italy, France, and Holland. Her collectors include Frederico Fellini, Marcello Mastroianni, Rossano Brazzi, Gina Lollobrigida, Giorgio de Chirico, Luciano Pavarotti, Vittorio de Sica, members of the Italian government as well as the Pope.
