A Chinese Han Dynasty, 202 BC to 220 AD, hand made pottery tripod vessel, 2500 years old. The tripod vessel presents a wide cylindrical body mounted on three cattle leg feet and a hemispherical lid decorated with three bird figurines. The vessel has an unglazed dark greyish black earthenware surface painted with bright orange patterns. This is a Mingqi Funerary Vessel. Mingqi meaning spirit objects were created in many different shapes and forms with imaginative designs symbolic of Chinese culture and beliefs. Museum piece.
