An antique early 20th century French bronze sculpture of a rifleman soldier wearing WWI period uniform by Georges Omerth, French, active from 1895 to 1925. Signed to the rock base: G. Omerth. Georges Omerth was a student of the sculptor Albert Ernest Carrier Bellez, worked as a painter from 1895 to 1925, and exhibited at the salons of the Societe des Artistes Francais in Paris. Omerth made many figurines of children, women and men in Classicist, Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. He used such materials as bronze, chryselephantine, ivory, zinc, and biscuit.
