Lot 497 - ANCIENT STEATITE CYLINDER SEAL 2ND TO 1ST MILLENNIUM BC

A Western Asiatic cylinder seal, carved from dark steatite, dates circa the 2nd to the 1st millennium BC. The seal features a central ritual scene in intaglio. The composition includes a standing figure facing a seated deity or dignitary. The artifact is longitudinally pierced through the center for suspension as a personal amulet or administrative tool. Mesopotamia, Near Eastern, Babylonian, Assyrian, Antiquity, Glyptic Art, Intaglio, Archeological, and Collectibles.
