George Tooker, American, 1920 to 2011, color lithograph on paper. Female portrait. Titled Woman with a Sprig of Laurel. Dated 1978. Signed lower right. Numbered 17 out of 125 lower left. Unframed. George Tooker is known for his Social Realist tempera paintings of mid-century New York. Before embarking on his painting career in late 1940s, Tooker studied under Reginald Marsh at the Art Students League of New York.
