Lot 549 - LOT OF ANCIENT ROMAN BYZANTINE TERRACOTTA OIL LAMPS

A collection of three ancient Roman and Byzantine Empire terracotta pottery oil lamps. The first: an ancient Roman terracotta pottery oil lamp. The body of the lamp is adorned with engraved ornaments on the shoulders representing a solar disk. The lamp is decorated with a raised circle nozzle top and a raised handle. Circa: 100 to 300 AD. The second: an ancient Roman oil lamp, dating to approximately 100 to 300 AD, featuring a wreath design on the upper surface. The lamp is formed in the typical Roman style with a central filling hole and nozzle for the wick, intended for use with olive oil as a light source. The third: an ancient Byzantine Empire terracotta pottery oil lamp. The lamp is decorated with a raised circle nozzle top and a raised handle. The body of the lamp is adorned with an embossed Sun design representing Jesus and cross to the center. Circa: 350 to 550 AD.
