Louis Paul Jonas, American, 1894 to 1971, brown-patinated bronze figurine of a moose. The horns are partially damaged. Signed and dated 1931 on the base. Born in Budapest, Hungary, Louis Jonas emigrated to the U.S. at the age of 12. He studied under Carl Akeley, a noted field naturalist and animalier sculptor. Jonas opened Louis Paul Jonas Studios, Inc in NY which was known for its miniature and full size animal sculptures, taxidermy, and natural history exhibits.
