A European probably KPM hand painted porcelain plaque. The plaque depicts a detailed portrait of an elderly woman, modeled after the original painting by German artist Balthasar Denner. Marked with an impressed number, and inscribed, on the backside. Balthasar Denner, 1685 to 1749, was a prominent German portrait artist of the Baroque era, renowned for his phenomenal photographic precision, detail, and microscopic painting technique. He painted portraits for European monarchs, but it was his hyperrealistic head studies, detailed depictions of the wrinkled faces of elderly people, depicting the smallest pores, hairs, and fluff on the skin, that brought him international renown.
