Lot 228 - RUSSIAN SILVER COVERED BOX WITH SUVOROV PORTRAIT

A Russian parcel gilt Silver covered box, probably dating circa early 19th century. The circular shaped box is adorned with the detachable cover made in repousse and chased design and decorated with the profile of Count Alexander Vasilevich Suvorov within the Russian inscription Count Alexander Vasilevich Suvorov Rimnik General in chief, within a berried laurel border, additionally inscribed in Russian Copied by Pritki beneath the Count. The base is chased and engraved with a lyrical allegory depicting an image representing the victories of Rimnik, Ismail, Fokchani and Kinburn in 1787, 1789 and 1790. Gold wash interior. Unmarked.
