A Russian hand carved hard stone desktop gum pot (glue vessel).Carved from banded agate/hardstone in the form of an apple, the piece rests on a cast leaf-and-dart silver-gilt base ring. The vessel is fitted with a pull-off stopper featuring a mucilage brush, topped with a guilloché-engraved cap, a realistic silver-gilt stem, a carved frosted crystal leaf, and a polychrome enameled ladybug. The collar of the vessel is set with a ring of small rose-cut diamonds (untested). The bottom is marked with the 84 silver standard and makers mark.
