The cover features the 1926 painting titled The Town by Natalia Goncharova, scenery for the ballet The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky. Colonel Wassily de Basil, 1888 to 1951, was a Russian ballet impresario. Following the death of Diaghilev in 1929, the members of his Ballets Russes went in many directions, including the troupe administrated by de Basil.
