Lot 568 - WWI TYPE GERMAN IRON CROSS 2ND CLASS 1813 AND 1914

A WWI type German Iron Cross Second Class is a military decoration of the Kingdom of Prussia, instituted for the 1914 reinstatement during the First World War. The award features a three-piece construction consisting of a patinated silvered frame and a blackened iron core. The obverse displays the central W for Kaiser Wilhelm II, surmounted by a royal crown and the date 1914 at the base. The reverse shows the FW monogram for King Frederick William III, three oak leaves, and the original 1813 institution date. The medal is topped with a circular suspension ring for ribbon attachment.
