Lot 233 - ORNATE ITALIAN BRASS MANTEL CLOCK ON WOOD BY LOUCINI

An ornate Italian brass mantel clock by Loucini. It features a figural group representing a mythological or allegorical scene, set on a polished wooden base. The central figure is a reclining woman in classical drapery, likely representing Venus or a water nymph, as she is depicted atop gilded stylized waves next to the dolphins. Beside her is a small Cherub blowing into a conch shell. The timepiece is housed in a cartouche style gilded frame topped with a scallop shell, a common Rococo-revival motif. The dial is white enamel with Roman numerals and delicate pierced hands. Marked Loucini upper to the center and made in Italy on the dial. Marked FHS for Franz Hermle and Sons, on the back side, it is one of the most famous manufacturers of watch movements in the world, whose products were often used in Italian and German mantel clocks.
