An oil on canvas painting signed Richard Wagner. Framed. The painting depicts a harbor scene with three vessels, captured in an Impressionistic style. The central focus is a group of three boats at anchor. One of the boats has the inscription SUNBEAM BAR HARBOR. Signed lower right. Bears a metal plate below inscribed Richard Wagner. The painting is titled Tethered Boats. Richard Ellis Wagner, 1923 to 2009, was an American painter. Born in Ohio, Richard Wagner was a respected painter and educator. He served as a Professor of Art at Dartmouth College for 13 years and also taught at the University of Colorado. His work is primarily described as Modern Impressionism. He was known for his masterful use of color and texture to capture landscapes and maritime scenes. Wagners paintings have been exhibited at prestigious venues, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The presence of this label with the specific Control Number 05596 indicates that the artwork was once part of the Kable News Company corporate art collection.
