A West African terracotta pottery Bida water vessel probably made by the Nupe people of Nigeria. The vessel is decorated with distinctive carved geometric patterns and stripes on the shoulders and neck. The pot has a rounded bottom, as it was traditionally worn on the head, using special rings of fabric or fiber for support. The vessel rests on a woven raffia ring, which serves as a stand.
