A large limited edition serigraph on heavy black paper is by the celebrated Russian Nonconformist artist Mihail Chemiakin, born 1943. The work features a surreal, geometric figure from his Carnival at St. Petersburg series, rendered in vibrant neon hues against a dark background, exemplifying his signature style of Metaphysical Syntheticism. Signed in pencil M. Chemiakin in the lower right and numbered 66 of 120 in the lower left, the piece showcases the artists complex interplay of line and color. Provenance includes a private New York City collection, subsequently acquired by Grandview Mercantile, Columbus, circa 2020. Chemiakin is a major figure of the Soviet underground art movement, known for his expulsion from the USSR and subsequent international acclaim.
