Lot 0331: ART NOUVEAU BRONZE INKWELL MANNER OF GUSTAV GURSCHNER

Seller: 0D6D7 (3393)

A fine and rare antique Austrian Art Nouveau cast bronze inkwell with a pen tray in the manner of Gustav Gurschner, Austrian, 1873 to 1970. The inkwell is modeled as the head of a beautiful young maiden with a hinged forehead revealing a space for storing ink. Circa 1910. Note: Gustav Gurschner was a German born Austrian sculptor whose work combined of Art Nouveau and Wiener Werkstatte aesthetics to create lamps, ashtrays, door knobs, and other functional objects. Featuring the swooping, organic lines typical to the Art Nouveau movement, his objects are distinctly ornate and decorative. Antique and Vintage Artistic Mirrors, Home Decor, and Collectibles.
