A stunning pair of unique, original mixed media illustrations by Italian Art Deco artist Mario Laboccetta. Executed in Paris during the 1920s or 1930s, the pieces depict exotic, theatrical female figures in the Orientalist taste. The works are masterfully hand-painted using a complex layering of flat watercolor, opaque gouache, brilliant metallic gold paint, and fine pen-and-ink outlining. One piece is executed on a bi-fold card.
