The artwork depicts two Black figures in an artists studio, with one figure adjusting the others head as they pose for a painting. Signed in the lower right. Unframed. Provenance: Estate of Eric Jansson, Roswell, Georgia. Kerry James Marshall graduated from the Otis College of Art and Design. In his work he explores the complex effects of the Civil Rights movement on the everyday life on African Americans. Marshall often exaggerates the color of the people in his work making them as black as the pigment will allow, drawing more attention to the surrounding color and content of his paintings.
