A pencil and pastel painting on paper by Guy Hoff, American, 1889 to 1962. Depicts a portrait of a kid in a red hat. Signed and inscribed lower right. Matted and framed by a gilded wood frame. Bears a paper label from the Eastside Art Gallery, on the back side. Guy Hoff was born in Rochester, New York. He was trained at the Art School of the Albright Gallery in Buffalo, and the Art Students League in New York City. Hoff painted seven covers for The Saturday Evening Post. He also did illustrations for Procter and Gamble, Lux, and Ivory Soap. In New York, he designed program covers for the Shubert Theatre and sold his first magazine cover to Smart Set, which put him on the national scene.
