A mid 20th Century American folk painting on cardboard. The painting depicts a funny genre scene on the eve of Christmas. A group of people in the room to the right of the fireplace are singing songs, and to the left there are listeners, a musician and a dog singing along with the people. The interior and clothing of the characters are stylized to resemble the end of the 19th century. Framed, on the reverse side there is an inscription, most likely by the author, an early American Christmas H. Brisbin, 1953.
