A 19th century Russian Orthodox icon representing Elijah, also named Ilyas or Ilya in Orthodox tradition, the Old Testament prophet. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board with kovcheg. The iconography of this icon is titled The Fiery Ascent of Elijah the Prophet, the prophet is surrounded by images of saints and scenes from his life. Titled in Church Slavonic, upper to the center. Circa: late 18th century to early 19th century. Russian Religious Items and Antique Collectibles.
