A vintage Persian wooden marquetry trinket box. Circa the second half of the 20th century. The rectangular surface is skillfully inlaid with fine Sadeli mosaic motifs composed of various wood-type pieces and other natural materials. The lid of the box is decorated with an inscription in Arabic. The interior of the box is lined with soft red fabric. Note: Sadeli is a highly skilled technique where the craftsmen fabricate intricate geometric or floral patterns on teak or other locally available wood.
