An antique Russian illustrated childrens book, The Fairy Tale of the Colourful Fish. Illustrated by N. Ulyanov. Moscow: I. Knebel Publishing House, 1914. In the publishers illustrated cover. Nikolay Ulyanov was the most interesting of the Moscow artists who collaborated with Knebel in the Gift Series. He was a student of V. Serov, a member of the Union of Russian Artists and World of Art. He managed to skillfully transform his artistic searches in illustrations for fairy tales published in 1914: Aladdin and the Magic Lamp and The Tale of the Colorful Fish that was characterized by reviewers as one of the most beautiful childrens illustrated books in terms of its picturesqueness, simplicity and beauty.
