Oswald Poreau is known for Landscape and still life painting. Oswald Poreau was born in Schaarbeek, Belguim in 1877 and attended a military school as a young boy. He soon displayed some artistic promise and was given art lessons by a family friend, the painter Joseph Quinaux. It was Quinaux who, realizing his potential, encouraged him to attend the Academic de Bruxelles. Here, under the direction of Jan Stallaert, he studied architecture and painting. In 1900, he graduated, and after a series of quite lengthy trips to England, Spain and France he settled in Brussels. His paintings of landscapes, town scenes and still lifes are full of color and light and owe much to the influence of the French Post Impressionists. He exhibited his work widely and his images of the Meuse and Borinage Valleys became highly sought after. European Fine Art, Floral Still Life Oil Paintings, and Collectibles. One of a kind artwork.
